In a recent development, Shakib Al Hasan has confirmed his availability for Bangladesh's remaining Test matches in 2024, especially given the recent political turmoil in the country.

With the political changes following Sheikh Hasina's resignation and the dissolution of parliament, there were concerns about Shakib's participation in upcoming international fixtures, particularly the two-Test series against Pakistan.

Shakib Al Hasan Available For All Tests: Chief Selector

According to the reports of Daily Star, chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu has clarified that Shakib Al Hasan will be available for all eight remaining Tests this year, including those against Pakistan, India, South Africa, and the West Indies.

"We have eight Tests scheduled this year, which will conclude in the West Indies in December. He [Shakib] will be available for all of them," Lipu told the media in Mirpur today.

This confirmation puts to rest the speculations fuelled by the uncertain political landscape and Shakib's previous involvement in the ruling Awami League party.

His presence will be crucial as the Tigers face a tough schedule in the coming months, with red-ball assignments that will test their strength and resilience on the global stage. The Bangladesh team is set to depart for Pakistan this afternoon.

Bangladesh will play a two-test match series on 21 August at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, with the second Test match will be played on 30 August at the National Stadium in Karachi.
