In an encouraging development for team India, ace right-handed batter Shubman Gill is all set to make his comeback in the upcoming second Test against Australia in Adelaide Oval. The batter has reportedly been declared fit and could play the all-important pink ball Test in Adelaide.
Why Did Shubman Gill Miss 1st Test vs Australia?
India's prominent batter Shubman Gill was ruled out of the first Test against Australia as he sustained an unfortunate finger injury days before the game. The batter, who was expected to play a crucial role for the Indian team, saw himself replaced by Devdutt Padikkal at number three. However, the southpaw from Karnataka couldn't do much with the bat, managing only 25 runs across two innings.
However, the young batter from Punjab has recovered from the injury and started practising in the nets for the upcoming Test in Adelaide. If Gill returns, he will replace Padikkal in the Indian playing XI.
What Happened In 1st Test Between India and Australia?
The first Test between India and Australia witnessed a riveting battle between the two sides on day 1. However, India dominated the hosts as the game progressed, outclassing them across departments. After setting a mammoth target, courtesy of sensational knocks from Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal, India bowled the Aussies out for 238 runs, securing a comprehensive 295-run victory.
So, the second Test in Adelaide gives India a golden opportunity to sustain their dream run and extend their lead in the series. In such a scenario, Gill's recovery is a massive boost for the visitors and will strengthen their squad ahead of the much-awaited clash.
