India's prominent young batter, Shubman Gill, has started sweating out in the nets ahead of a packed cricketing calendar. The stylish batter from Punjab has been working hard on his batting in order to make an impact in India's upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.

After failing to perform in the white-ball series against Sri Lanka, Gill seems determined to prove his mettle with the bat. The young batter managed only 130 runs across five outings on the Lankan tour. These numbers certainly don't justify his class and potential.

Hailed as the Prince of Indian cricket, Gill is keen to prove his worth in the upcoming assignments, as he has been toiling hard in the nets ahead of the Duleep Trophy 2024.

As the youngster continues to fine-tune himself, a video of him working on his batting has taken the social media by storm.

As it can be seen in the video above, Gill was involved in an intense practice session at his home ground, PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Gill seems to be in sublime rhythm, as he plays an effortless short-arm jab off a back-of-the-length delivery from a local seamer.

Gill's trademark shot is the short-arm jab, which he regularly plays in white-ball cricket. However, as he is practising ahead of the Test session, we might witness a more aggressive version of the batter in the upcoming red-ball games.

Shubman Gill's importance in Indian Test side

After Cheteshwar Pujara was sidelined, Shubman Gill replaced him at number three in India's playing XI in Tests. This batting position has special significance in Test cricket, as the number three batters are expected to not only play out lethal spells but also keep the scoreboard ticking.

In fact, Gill has been impressive at that position, amassing 618 runs in 17 innings at an average of 41.20. Therefore, considering his capability, we expect him to score truckloads of runs in his upcoming domestic and international assignments.
