India's promising opener, Shubman Gill, has started practising in the nets ahead of the much-anticipated Duleep Trophy season. Notably, Gill has been named the captain of India A, which also features several marquee players like KL Rahul, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Mayank Agarwal, Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube. 

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill has started practising for the much-awaited domestic competition, which will also witness the participation of most of the Indian national team players. 

A picture of Gill batting in the nets has taken social media by storm, showing his remarkable commitment to the game. 

The Duleep Trophy 2024 is significant for the youngster, who aims to cement his place as the number three batter in India's Test side. 

Shubman Gill rises to become a part of India's leadership group

Gill has been a vital cog in the Indian side across formats. Recently, he led India to a clinical T20I series win against Zimbabwe, while also replacing Hardik Pandya as the vice-captain in white-ball cricket. 

Reports also suggest that he will be appointed as Rohit Sharma's deputy in the Indian Test side ahead of the much-awaited Bangladesh series on home soil. 

Regarding the Duleep Trophy 2024, the tournament begins in September, with Gill's men taking on Abhimanyu Easwaran's India B in the opening game.
