Batting phenom Shubman Gill seems to have recovered from his illness as he was recently seen bracing himself up for India’s high-profile World Cup 2023 showdown against Pakistan. A day prior to the much-awaited contest, the cricketer took to nets and batted for roughly 45 minutes at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Following his grilling nets session, Gill also assessed the playing conditions on offer at the venue by examining the pitch up close.

Shubman Gill assesses India vs Pakistan playing surface

During Team India’s training session in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, comeback man Shubman Gill was seen inspecting and assessing the pitch on offer for their blockbuster faceoff against Pakistan.

It is worth noting that the venue also happens to be Gill’s home base in IPL for the highly-celebrated Gujarat Titans franchise.

Shubman Gill, originally slated to open the Indian innings alongside captain Rohit Sharma throughout the 2023 World Cup, missed out on team’s opening two fixtures against Australia and Afghanistan owing to dengue.

Thereafter, the cricketer made rapid recovery in a bid to make a comeback just in time for India’s much-awaited match-up against Pakistan on a familiar Ahmedabad surface.

Gill has been in scintillating touch with the bat for Team India across all formats for the past couple of seasons. Moreover, less than a month ago, the 24-year-old batting prodigy punched a rebellious Asia Cup 2023 ton against Bangladesh, and a match-winning 104 against Australia in Indore.

If the Indian team management eventually decides to field Gill against Pakistan, the match will mark his first-ever World Cup outing since his international debut.
