Team India will face Pakistan for their high-profile World Cup 2023 showdown at the majestic Narendra Modi Stadium on October 14. While the iconic venue is poised to host over 100,000 spectators for the enthralling contest, Indian captain Rohit Sharma has claimed that his team will not feel overwhelmed by the grand setting.

Moreover, a day prior to their anticipated match-up, Sharma said that the Indian players are already used to playing against big crowds and the outcome between the two sides will eventually be decided by the team that plays better cricket under the same settings.

Rohit Sharma denies crowd pressure, says team prepared

During a pre-match press conference, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was asked if his team is prepared to handle the crowd pressure from their blockbuster World Cup 2023 faceoff against Pakistan. Sharma profusely responded that the presence of a large crowd will actually work in his team’s favour, because the Indian cricket fanatics at Ahmedabad will get behind the ‘Men in Blue’ players regardless of the match situation.

Moreover, the Indian skipper added that a number of players in the side are already used to playing under huge crowds, and the eventual outcome of the contest will ultimately be decided by the team that plays better cricket on the day. During the press conference, Rohit Sharma said:

“I don't think that there is any disadvantage. They get behind you no matter what the situation is. I look at it as a big advantage. It boils down to playing good cricket. All the guys are used to playing against big crowd. A lot of guys in the team loves big crowd, the cheer. It is the same for the game as well overall.”

The legendary opener also signified the importance of the game in the context of the ongoing 2023 World Cup. He added:

“I am not on social media for 9 months now. In the context it is an important game for us.”

Both India and Pakistan will head into the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14 off the back of two confident wins in their respective 2023 World Cup campaigns upfront.

While Virat Kohli and KL Rahul guided India to a comfortable win over Australia, captain Rohit Sharma himself bludgeoned a sensational run-chase ton against Afghanistan in his side’s subsequent outing in Delhi.

Pakistan, on the other hand, trounced Netherlands before hunting down Sri Lanka’s 344 to register the highest-ever successful run-chase in World Cup history.
