In the 20.2 over of the World Cup 2023, the match between the Bangladesh and New Zealand took an unexpected turn as Daryl Mitchell faced off against Bangladesh's skipper, Shakib al Hasan. Mitchell, in a high-pressure situation, decided to take matters into his own hands by lofting the ball for a six. It was a pivotal moment in the game, as the ball soared to a remarkable height of 23 meters, covering a distance of 75 meters.

However, this act of audacity was about to hurt Bangladesh, both physically and metaphorically. Mitchell danced down the pitch, timing his shot to perfection. As the ball sailed skyward, the fielder at long-off back-pedaled in an attempt to take the catch. Mahmudullah, known for his brilliant fielding skills, backpedaled, showing immense commitment to take the catch that could turn the game in their favor.

But fate had a different plan. As Mahmudullah reached the ropes, his attempt to grab the ball in the air led to an unfortunate tumble. He not only failed to catch the ball but also lost his balance and landed on his head. The ball slipped through his fingers and went over the boundary ropes for a maximum.

Bangladesh had batted first, posting a total of 245 runs. New Zealand's run chase began on a shaky note as Mustafizur Rahman dismissed opener Rachin Ravindra early, putting pressure on the Kiwi batters. Despite Mahmudullah's unfortunate incident, the Tigers were determined to defend their total.

At the time of writing, Daryl Mitchell and Kane Williamson were at the crease, with New Zealand standing at 113/2 in 23 overs.
