Shreyas Iyer Starts Off PBKS Stint With Record 97*
Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer started off his fresh leadership stint with a majestic 97* from just 42 balls against Gujarat Titans at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. The charismatic Indian right-hander smeared five boundaries and nine towering sixes in his belligerent unbeaten knock to record one of the highest individual scores by an IPL cricketer on his captaincy debut for a franchise.
Notably, Shreyas Iyer was released by the Kolkata Knight Riders prior to the IPL 2025 mega auction last year, thus becoming the first captain in IPL history to not be retained after winning a title.
PBKS Clinch High-Scoring Thriller Despite Sudharsan, Buttler 50s
Punjab Kings secured a tight 11-run win over Gujarat Titans in match number five of the IPL 2025 season in Ahmedabad. Batting first, Shreyas Iyer plundered 97* off just 42 to top-score in the innings as Punjab Kings mounted 243-5 from 20 overs. Shashank Singh also exploded in the slog overs with a sizzling 16-ball 44*, while opener Priyansh Arya laid out the early foundation with a swift 23-ball 47.
In response, Gujarat Titans fought valiantly, with opener Sai Sudharsan (74 off 41) and number three Jos Buttler (54 off 33) leading the way. Sherfane Rutherford also clubbed 46 runs off just 28 balls, but a tight spell from Arshdeep Singh (2-36) successfully subdued the Titans’ resistance.
DC Squad Congratulate KL Rahul For Newborn Baby
After pulling off a sensational heist against LSG, the Delhi Capitals squad congratulated senior Indian batter KL Rahul, considering the latter was recently blessed with a baby girl with wife and Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty. On Tuesday, March 25; the Delhi Capitals franchise shared a short 32-second video on their social media platforms where several players and support staff members can be seen making a heartwarming “baby gesture”.
It is worth noting that KL Rahul skipped Delhi Capitals’ opening match of the IPL 2025 season on March 24 against LSG to celebrate the occasion with his family.
Iconic Gabba To Be Demolished After 2032 Olympics
The iconic Gabba stadium in Brisbane, Australia will be demolished after the 2032 Olympic Games, as per the revelation made by the Queensland government. The venue has so far hosted some of the greatest Test matches ever played on Australian soil, and it remained Australia’s unprecedented fortress between the years 1988 and 2021.
As of now, the Queensland government and Cricket Australia are putting up plans in place to construct a new stadium in Victoria Park in Brisbane, which will host the opening as well as the closing ceremonies of the 2032 Olympics. The new stadium will also start hosting cricket matches after the demolition of the Gabba.
Avesh Khan Cleared To Play IPL 2025 For LSG
Injured fast bowler Avesh Khan has been declared fit by the BCCI to play IPL 2025 matches for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) franchise. Avesh was previously dealing with a knee injury, and he has not played a single competitive match since his Ranji Trophy appearance for Madhya Pradesh back in January this year.
It is worth noting that the speedster was acquired by the LSG franchise back during the IPL 2025 mega auction after Rajasthan Royals released the cricketer.
