Pakistan cricket players took part in an optional training session in Wellington ahead of the fifth T20I match against hosts New Zealand. The two teams are set to collide at the Sky Stadium in Wellington on Wednesday, March 26.

Pakistan, under the leadership of newly appointed captain and all-rounder Agha Salman, sustained three crushing defeats in the first four T20Is to concede the five-match series with a game to spare. Moreover, the 115-run drubbing they coped in the fourth T20I marked their biggest margin of defeat in the format, in terms of runs.

Struggling fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, star all-rounder Shadab Khan, along with the rest of the Pakistani players played soccer during their optional training session in Wellington on Tuesday, March 25; i.e., a day prior to the fifth T20I match against New Zealand. The PCB even shared a short footage of the same on their social media accounts.

Pakistan lost the first T20I match last week in Christchurch by nine wickets and with 59 balls to spare. Batting first and accruing just 91, the total marked Pakistan’s lowest ever in T20Is against New Zealand, and the margin of defeat marked one of their biggest ever in terms of number of balls remaining.

The ‘Men in Green’ also suffered demoralizing defeats in the second and fourth T20Is in Dunedin and Mount Maunganui respectively. The Pakistan team recorded its lone win of the tour so far in the third match by pulling off a sensational 205-run heist in just 16 overs and with nine wickets in hand. Young Hassan Namaz tonked 105 unbeaten runs off just 45 balls to top-score in the run-chase.

The upcoming fifth T20I between Pakistan and hosts New Zealand will be followed by a three-match ODI series between the two sides.
