Delhi Capitals pulled off a sensational heist against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the fourth match of the IPL 2025 season at the VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Ashutosh Sharma pummeled LSG bowlers with a burgeoning run-chase special alongside Vipraj Nigam as the Capitals completed its 200-plus pursuit after losing five early wickets.
Here’s the timeline of how DC vs LSG panned out in Visakhapatnam:
Marsh, Pooran Go Berserk For LSG After Early Setback
Delhi Capitals spinner and IPL debutant Vipraj Nigam got the prized scalp of LSG opener Aiden Markram early in the innings for just 15. At 46-1 in 4.4 overs, fellow opening batter Mitchell Marsh and blistering number three Nicholas Pooran went berserk with a ferocious 87-run stand for the third wicket.
Marsh launched six boundaries and six huge sixes in his turbulent 36-ball knock of 72 runs before he picked out Tristan Stubbs off Mukesh Kumar (1-22) at 133-2 in 11.4 overs.
Starc, Kuldeep Yadav Fight Back For Capitals
LSG captain Rishabh Pant struggled throughout his six-ball stay at the crease until he was deceived by Kuldeep Yadav for a duck. Nicholas Pooran, who top-scored with a burgeoning 30-ball 75 with seven maximums, had his off-stump flattened out by Mitchell Starc.
Kuldeep (2-20) and Starc (3-42) ran through the rest of the LSG line-up in the slog overs by picking up timely wickets in quick succession. Nonetheless, David Miller cracked an unbeaten 19-ball 27* to push LSG to 209-8 by the end of their innings.
Shardul Thakur, Rathi And Bishnoi Run Through DC Top-Order
Defending 210 for a win, LSG quick Shardul Thakur picked up two wickets in the first over of the run-chase, including that of attacking opener Jake Fraser-McGurk for just a single. Uncapped spinners Manimaran Siddharth and Digvesh Rathi also picked up the key wickets of Sameer Rizvi and Axar Patel respectively within their opening spells.
Ace spinner Ravi Bishnoi deceived threatening opener and seasoned campaigner Faf du Plessis for 18-ball 29 as the Delhi Capitals slipped to 65-5 in 6.4 overs.
Ashutosh Sharma Muscles 31-Ball 66* As Capitals Pull Off Thriller
Batting at number seven, Ashutosh Sharma muscled 66 unbeaten runs from just 31 deliveries with five boundaries and five maximums. Tristan Stubbs also chipped in with a swift 22-ball 34 in the middle overs to elevate Delhi Capitals from 65-5 to 113-6 before falling to Manimaran Siddharth in the 13th over.
Vipraj Nigam blasted 39 off just 15 with five boundaries and a couple of sixes to truly tilt the tide back in Delhi Capitals’ favor. While Nigam was deceived by a carrom delivery from Digvesh Rathi, Ashutosh finished off the proceedings with a match-sealing six in the final over alongside number 11 partner Mohit Sharma (1*).
