Ashutosh Dents Pooran, Marsh Party As Capitals Beat LSG
Delhi Capitals overcame LSG in a high-scoring thriller by a wicket and three balls to spare in match four of IPL 2025 in Visakhapatnam. Batting first, LSG mounted 209-8 from 20 overs courtesy of a blistering 36-ball 72 from opener Mitchell Marsh and a whirlwind 30-ball 75 from number three Nicholas Pooran. Fortunately for the Capitals, senior paceman Mitchell Starc (3-42) and spinner Kuldeep Yadav (2-20) limited the damage to a certain extent during the slog overs.
In response, Delhi Capitals’ lower-order batter Ashutosh Sharma overcame early strikes from Shardul Thakur and Manimaran Siddharth with an explosive 31-ball 66*. Vipraj Nigam also whacked 39 off just 15 balls as the Capitals pulled off a sensational heist after slipping to 7-3, and eventually to 65-5.
KL Rahul Blessed With Baby Girl
Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul was blessed with a baby girl with his wife Athiya Shetty. The duo shared the happy news on their Instagram account on March 24. Both Rahul and Shetty previously announced their pregnancy back in November last year.
It is worth noting that KL Rahul also missed Delhi Capitals’ opening match of the IPL 2025 season in Visakhapatnam to be with his family. In his absence, the Capitals pipped LSG in a high-scoring thriller.
Karachi Kings Replace Shan Masood With Warner As Captain
The Karachi Kings franchise named former Australian opener David Warner as new team captain for the upcoming PSL 2025 season, replacing Shan Masood in the process. Notably, Warner failed to attract any IPL bidders last year at the IPL 2025 mega auction, prompting the Karachi Kings to snap him up for a staggering sum of USD 300,000.
The Karachi Kings is set to open its PSL 2025 campaign with a match against Multan Sultans on April 12. The match will be hosted by the National Stadium in Karachi.
Tom Latham To Lead As NZ Name ODI Squad For PAK Series
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) named a 13-player squad for the upcoming men’s ODI series against Pakistan at home. With several first-choice players like Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips, Devon Conway and captain Mitchell Santner plying their trades in IPL 2025; the NZC named two uncapped stars in the form of Nick Kelly and Muhammad Abbas. Wicketkeeper-batter Tom Latham was also appointed as team captain in the absence of Santner.
The first ODI of the three-match series between the two nations will be hosted by the McLean Park in Napier on March 29.
