Cricket Australia announced the playing details for the Boxing Day Test on Christmas morning. Notably, Steve Smith returns to the side after being ruled out of the third Ashes Test due to inner-ear issues. He will resume the captaincy in the absence of Pat Cummins, while Nathan Lyon has also been ruled out of the Test.
The notable inclusions in the squad are Brendan Doggett, Michael Neser, and Jhye Richardson, who are all in contention for the two available spots. As Smith explained why Australia will go with an all-pace attack at the MCG, Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green have retained their places as the hosts gear up for the fourth clash.
BCCI cashes in mega profit despite Dream11 exit
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently revealed that despite losing a major sponsor like Dream11 and facing a reduced share of ICC revenue, the board is still projecting a profit of ₹6,728 crore.
As explained by the BCCI, revenue earnings have continued to show steady growth, largely driven by an upgraded jersey sponsorship secured at a higher valuation for the next two-and-a-half-year cycle.
Shreyas Iyer recovering fast from injury to eye NZ ODIs, VHT return
Shreyas Iyer, who has been sidelined from cricket since October due to massive internal bleeding and an injury sustained during the Australia tour, has been recovering at a rapid pace.
Iyer is currently 'en route' to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence for an assessment, which could also see him return to cricket sooner than expected. The Punjab Kings skipper may also feature in the New Zealand ODIs in January and could take part in the latter stages of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Speaking on the matter, Hossain stated that Shakib’s future depends on the national committee and the board, who will decide whether he can return to playing cricket.
Hossain added that Shakib’s comeback does not depend solely on his individual brilliance or personal choice, but also on the national committee’s expectations and the overall need for Shakib Al Hasan within the national setup.
BPL in chaos as Angelo Matthews, Aaron Jones pull out after Abrar Ahmed
After Abrar Ahmed pulled out of the BPL 2025–26, USA star Aaron Jones and Sri Lanka veteran Angelo Mathews have also exited the tournament, with franchise Sylhet Titans confirming the development through an official statement.
While Angelo Mathews withdrew from the season due to personal reasons, USA batter Aaron Jones will not be participating as he has not received a no-objection certificate from the USA Cricket Board. As a result, the BPL has plunged into further chaos, with the league set to miss out on several marquee overseas stars.
