Shardul Thakur did not hold back while revealing what exactly happened during the historic Gabba Test between India and Australia, back in January 2021.

The series, famously known as the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, was levelled 1-1 before the Gabba Test, and Cricket Australia (CA) put on ‘horrible’ hospitality to make the visitors’ lives worse, as Thakur thoroughly explained.

Firstly, Thakur revealed that there was no housekeeping service during the match days. In fact, Queensland's lady governor also didn't want to host the Indians, as Thakur termed everything as 'negative things.'

Shardul Thakur Attacks Cricket Australia For Horrible Hospitality

“The way they treated us was very horrible. For 4 or 5 days there won’t be any housekeeping service in the hotel. So if you want to change your bed sheets, you would have to walk up the stairs for four or five floors, get the bed sheets when you are tired, come and change it and do your own things,” Thakur said, as quoted by cricketcountry.com.

“Going from Sydney to Brisbane, we also heard the lady governor of Queensland saying if the Indians don’t want to come here, don’t come, we don’t want to host them. There were a lot of negative things being said about us to put us under pressure,” Thakur added.

Of course, despite all the challenges, Thakur and the rest of the Indians scripted history at the Gabba by winning the match by three wickets. In the process, Australia registered their first defeat there since 1988.

Thakur himself played a handy contributions at Gabba, having picked seven wickets across both innings in the match.
