Shanto, Rahim Tons Sink Sri Lanka On Day 1

Bangladesh amassed 292-3 from 90 overs at the end of Day 1 of the series-opening first Test at the Galle International Stadium. After Bangladesh slipped to 45-3 courtesy of twin strikes from debutant Tharindu Rathnayake and a new ball blitz from Asitha Fernando, visiting captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and senior man Mushfiqur Rahim pounded identical tons while sharing a huge 247-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Shanto finished the day at an unbeaten 136 from 260 balls with 14 fours and a six. Mushfiqur brought up his 12th Test century mere moments before close of play, reaching 105* off 186 balls.

Harshit Rana Added To India Squad For ENG Series

Indian fast bowler Harshit Rana has been reportedly added to the national squad as an unofficial cover up for the upcoming five-match Test series against England. Rana recently played a match for India A against England Lions in Canterbury, managing to pick up just one wicket in the game. The speedster made his Test debut back in November last year, and has so far featured in just two matches for the country.

Mark Adair Replaces Behrendorff In Washington Freedom For MLC 2025

The Washington Freedom franchise has roped in Ireland all-rounder Mark Adair for the MLC 2025 season. Adair will be replacing Australian fast bowler Jason Behrendorff, who has been ruled out of the tournament owing to an injury.

A veteran of 137 T20 matches, Adair has picked up 186 wickets at an impressive average of 19.66, and has also tallied over 1,000 runs at a strike rate of nearly 140. Moreover, the 29-year-old has also featured in 89 T20Is for Ireland to collect 128 wickets.

Ellyse Perry Extends WBBL Stay With Sydney Sixers

Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry has signed a three-year extension deal with the Sydney Sixers for Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). The 34-year-old has been a part of the Sixers team since her WBBL debut during the 2015-16 season of the tournament. Perry has played each of her 134 BBL games for the Sixers, picking up 70 wickets in the process and compiling 4,689 runs at a prolific batting average of 48.84.

The legendary Australian is set to remain a part of the Sydney Sixers, at least until the 2027-28 season as per the latest contract.

Smriti Mandhana Reclaims Top Spot In ICC Rankings

Prolific Indian opener Smriti Mandhana has reclaimed her number one spot on the ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings. The cricketer currently occupies the top position with 727 rating points, finding herself eight rating points ahead of England’s Natalie Sciver-Brunt.

Mandhana is also the only Indian to feature in the top 10 rankings, with the next best ‘Women in Blue’ batters being Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur at number 15 and 16 respectively.
