In the recent development related to Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced that the star all-rounder will continue to represent the national team despite being named in a First Information Report (FIR) related to a murder case.

BCB has decided to allow Shakib to continue playing for the national team until proven guilty, despite his involvement in a legal case related to the unrest in Bangladesh, which resulted in the death of a garment factory worker.

The all-rounder's name was included in a FIR, alongside 146 others concerning the unrest that resulted in the toppling of the government earlier this month.

The father of the deceased, Rafiqul Islam, has called for Shakib's immediate removal from all forms of cricket, supported by a legal notice sent by Shajib Mahmood Alam, a Supreme Court lawyer.

According to the reports, obtained by Cricbuzz, the BCB has responded to this and stated any decision regarding Shakib's participation in cricket would be made after the conclusion of the Test series against Pakistan.

"He [Shakib] will continue playing. We received a legal notice regarding bringing him back and we replied them saying this [that he will continue to play]. Right now the FIR is filed and it is in the initial stage and there are lot of steps after this and until he is proven guilty we will make him play. The Bangladesh team will go to India after the Pakistan series and we want him in that series as well. He is our contracted player and if necessary we will give him legal assistance." BCB president Faruque Ahmed was quoted in a leading Bengali Daily Prothom Alo on Tuesday.

The report further added that, despite the legal case against him and the ongoing unrest in Bangladesh, Shakib will not return home after the Test series against Pakistan.

Instead, he is set to travel to England to play a four-day match for Surrey, for which the BCB had already granted him a NOC from September 5 to 14. However, he is expected to return to the Bangladesh national team later next month when they face India in a two-Test series, followed by three T20Is.
