On Monday, March 24, Bangladesh legend Tamim Iqbal suffered a massive heart attack when he collapsed in Savar after he experienced chest pain while leading the Mohammedan team against Shinepukur in Dhaka Premier Division.
Iqbal was soon rushed to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment and underwent an angioplasty to remove the blockages from the heart. The fans were concerned as their idol was in a critical situation and fighting for his life in the hospital.
Doctors Provide Update On Tamim Iqbal's Health
However, in the latest events, the fans and Iqbal's family can breathe a sigh of relief as Iqbql has regained consciousness and is kept in the CCU for the next 48-72 hours. According to a report from Cricbuzz, Iqbal has resumed slight walking in his ward and is on his path to recovery.
"Tamim's condition is improving, and he has started walking a little. However, the next 48 to 72 hours remain critical," remarked Health Directorate Director General Professor Abu Jafar.
Now, it has led to a situation where the fans are concerned about whether they will be able to see their favourite star back on the cricket field or not. For Tamim fans, the doctor at the hospital reported that Tamim can resume his sporting activities but he won't be able to do so for three months at least. He currently needs to not exert himself and keep his movement limited.
Iqbal Likely To Take 3-5 Months To Return To Cricket
"He must wait at least three months before resuming normal activities, including sports. His heart function appears normal, but we must remain cautious. Abnormal rhythms could still occur," He added.
"We have advised against immediate movement. While Tamim's condition has improved, a sudden deterioration cannot be ruled out. It is crucial to minimize exertion and maintain strict monitoring." Abu Jafar told reporters.
Further, Tamim's return to the cricket field would likely take more than three months to return. In case, he does mark his return, he won't be able to run or exert himself the same because of his health issue. He also already retired from international cricket.
