In a significant development, Bangladesh have dealt a heavy blow as their star keeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim has been ruled out of the remainder of the Afghanistan series because of a finger injury.
Notably, Rahim has sustained a fracture on his left index finger and will miss the remaining two matches. The incident occurred when he was keeping wickets in the 49th over of the first innings. In the latest events, the Bangladesh Cricket Board released a press release where they confirmed about Rahim's injury and unavailability for the remaining games.
Mushfiqur Rahim Suffers Hairline Fracture
“Towards the end of Afghanistan’s batting innings, Mushfiqur injured the tip of his left Index finger while keeping wickets. An X-ray after the match confirmed a fracture on his left Index near the DIP joint. He is under conservative management and is not available for the second and third ODIs. Further updates on his condition and expected recovery period will be provided in due course, ” said team physio Delowar Hossain.
Despite the injury, Rahim came to bat in the first ODI but got stumped out for a solitary run. It was a game to forget for The Tigers as they suffered a 92-run defeat.

It is worth noting that the visitors were cruising towards a comfortable win as they were 120/2 at one point while chasing a small target of 235 runs but lost the next eight wickets for just 23 runs and tumbled for 143. Bangladesh and Afghanistan will lock horns for the 2nd ODI on November 9 at 3:30 pm IST.
