Bangladesh's wicket-keeper batter, Mushfiqur Rahim, is expected to miss the remaining two ODIs against Afghanistan owing to a finger injury. It has been understood that he sustained the injury during the first ODI while keeping the wickets against Afghanistan in the 49th over at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Shedding light on the injury, Bangladesh Cricket Board's Chief Selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain and chief physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury informed that Mushfiqur Rahim has suffered from an injury and that he is suspected of having sustained a hairline fracture; however, the team is awaiting Test results for confirmation.

"Yes, he suffered from an injury, and it seems a bit serious. We will only learn for how long he will have to sit out after doing tests. But as things look, it seems like he won't be able to feature in this series anymore. It is being suspected that there is a hairline fracture in his finger. It can only be confirmed after tests. We are yet to get the details [of the nature of his injury],"  he told The Daily Star.

Bangladesh Lose First ODI vs Afghanistan

Afghanistan thrashed Bangladesh by 92 runs at the Sharjah Stadium. Afghanistan batted first and was in a precarious position, losing some key wickets and crawling to 50/4. However, captain Hashmatullah Shahidi balanced the innings with a calm knock of 52, while Mohammad Nabi provided aggression with a quickfire 84 of 79 balls, and tailenders provided useful runs, making Afghanistan reach 235 all out.

Priding on a minor target, Bangladesh did well, with Soumya Sarkar (33) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (40) steadying the innings. But they collapsed dramatically at 120/2 in the 26th over. Afghanistan's spin sensation Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar turned the game with a remarkable spell of 6 wickets for 26 runs in just 39 balls. Bangladesh lost eight wickets for only 23 runs in 42 balls, and they eventually bowled out for 143, giving away a decisive win to Afghanistan.
