On Tuesday, November 5, the BCCI released the list of players who registered for the IPL 2025 mega-auction. Notably, 1574 have registered for the auction, which includes the likes of Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul.

While the BCCI is yet to release the official list of players, there were reports that England's 42-year-old James Anderson has also given his name for the mega-auction.

In the latest events, Anderson has confirmed his participation in the IPL 2025 mega-auction and also hinted at opting for a player-mentor role. Anderson stated that he believes he can still play at the age of 42.

"There is still definitely something in me that thinks like I can still play. I have never done the IPL; I have never experienced it, and I think for several reasons I feel like I have more to give as a player," Anderson told BBC Radio 4 Today in a podcast.

James Anderson Opens Up On Mentorship Role

"I have done a little bit of coaching since I have finished in the summer. I have been around the England team doing a bit of mentoring or whatever you like to call it," he said.

After announcing his retirement from Test cricket following the West Indies series, Anderson took the role of bowling mentor of England and was seen with the squad during Pakistan tour.

It is worth noting that it is not the first time that Anderson has given his name for IPL auction. He earlier too tried his luck but failed to get any team. Anderson has registered his base price for 1.25 crores and the mega-auction will take place in Jeddah on November 24 and 25.
