Vikram Rathour, the former Indian batting coach, has joined Rajasthan Royals as a batting coach ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. His appointment means that he will reunite with Rahul Dravid, who was recently named the head coach of the franchise led by Sanju Samson.
The former Indian batter, Rathour, served as India's batting coach from November 2021 until the 2024 T20 World Cup and was also part of New Zealand's support staff for the one-off Test against Afghanistan. His expertise as a coach is highly valued in the cricketing world, and he has been credited with guiding India's next crop of batters with great distinction in the last few years.

Rahul Dravid also expressed his satisfaction and excitement with Rathour's appointment. Dravid mentioned that he worked closely with the former Indian batter in the past and praised his ability to nurture young talent and expressed confidence of bringing more success for Rajasthan Royals just like they did with their union for India.
"Having worked closely with Vikram for many years, I can confidently say that his technical expertise, calm demeanour, and deep understanding of Indian conditions make him a perfect fit for the Royals," said Dravid. "Together, we've built a strong rapport, guiding India to key successes, and I'm thrilled to reunite with him. His ability to nurture young talent and elevate players' potential will be invaluable as we aim to further strengthen our squad and continue building a world-class team here at Rajasthan Royals."
Rathour on his part also expressed his gratitude after the appointment and added that he is looking forward to contributing in team's vision and take RR to a title win in the next season.
"It's a privilege to be part of the Royals family. The opportunity to work again with Rahul, and now with a talented group of young cricketers, is hugely exciting. I look forward to contributing to the team's vision and working toward our goal of developing top-class players for the Royals and for India which can help in winning championships."
Rajasthan Royals won the inaugural season of Indian Premier League in 2008, and reached the summit clash in 2022. They also qualified for the Playoffs in the 2024 season and with a high-profile coaching staff at their disposal, RR fans would be hoping to end the trophy drought in the 2025 season.
