Shreyas Iyer, the star Indian batter is all set to leave KKR and is in line to lead Delhi Capitals in the upcoming IPL cycle according to the reports from the Press Trust of India. The report states that GMR group that co-owns Delhi Capitals is in talks with Shreyas Iyer and with the right-handed batter's future with KKR uncertain, he might just be roped back to the franchise he once led to a final of the compeition.
Shreyas Iyer led Kolkata Knight Riders to a title win in 2024 and was bought by the franchise in the mega auction of IPL 2022. However, the franchise is not keen to retain him as their first choice and as a result, Shreyas is likely to part ways with the Kolkata-based unit. However, DC is not a new franchise for Shreyas Iyer as he made his debut for them in IPL 2015, and even led them from 2018 to 2020. If he does get back into the DC setup, he is likely to lead them with a IPL winning-captain title attached to his CV now.
Rishabh Pant To Leave DC
It has been revealed that Rishabh Pant will not play for the franchise as the GMR group was not in favour of retaining Pant. The appointment of Venugopal Rao and Hemang Badani also did not go well with India's star wicketkeeper batter and he is likely to go into the auction as one of the hottest assets up for the grabs.
The DC management is co-owned by GMR and JSW group and they are entitled to the run the franchise for two years each. Currently, the four retentions for DC are likely to be Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Abhishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs.
