Following Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) elimination from the IPL 2025 playoff race, team owner Sanjiv Goenka took to social media to share a heartfelt moment with star players, including Delhi Capitals skipper. 

However, this incident seems a bit uncharacteristic from Sanjiv Goenka's side. Known for his hot temper, especially after his rash exit from Ekana the playoff exit thrilled LSG fans and cricket experts alike.

Sanjiv Goenka took to his X handle to post the image with the group and wrote, “It’s been a challenging second half of the season, but there’s much to take heart in. The spirit, effort, and moments of excellence give us a lot to build on. Two games remain. Let’s play with pride and finish strong,” Goenka wrote on X.

Needing victories in their final three matches to stay in contention, LSG faced a daunting task against a fiery SRH lineup. Posting a competitive 205/4 on the board, Lucknow’s bowlers struggled to contain Hyderabad’s explosive batting. SRH’s Abhishek Sharma (59 off 28) and Heinrich Klaasen (47* off 22) orchestrated a clinical chase, sealing the win with 10 balls to spare.

LSG’s Season Derails After Promising Start

Lucknow’s campaign began brightly, with four wins in their first seven matches. However, a dramatic slump saw them secure just one victory in their last five games. Key players like Nicholas Pooran saw a dip in form, while Rishabh Pant, struggled to find consistency with the bat.

Despite the setbacks, Goenka emphasized the team’s fighting spirit. LSG now aims to close their season on a high note, facing Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at home.
