On May 20, Rajasthan Royals (RR) are up against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 62nd match of the IPL 2025 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Notably, this match isn’t taking place in either team’s home ground , it’s being held at a neutral venue.

Both teams are already out of the race for the IPL 2025 playoffs. For CSK, this is their second-last game of the season. They’ve had a rough run this year, winning only 3 out of 12 matches and spending most of the season near the bottom of the points table.

As for RR, this is their final game of the season. After losing to the Punjab Kings, they’ll want to finish strong for their fans. They had beaten CSK earlier in the season, and they’ll be hoping to do it again.

Why Is CSK vs RR Match Not Happening In Chennai?

This match was originally supposed to take place on May 12 at CSK’s home ground, the MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk) in Chennai. But things changed when the IPL 2025 season was temporarily suspended due to the rising border tensions between India and Pakistan.

When the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to resume the tournament a week later, they made some changes to the schedule and venues. Chennai was left out as a host city for the remaining matches. Notably, one of the reasons can be the forecast of heavy rains in the southern parts of India, which could disrupt the games.

In total, 17 matches will now be played across six different cities, starting from May 17 and ending with the final on June 3. The new schedule also includes two double-header Sundays, where two matches will be played on the same day.
