Indian cricketers, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Prithvi Shaw, have been added to Maharashtra's 17-member squad for the upcoming Buchi Babu Tournament, set to be played from August 18 to September 9. This would be the first time that Shaw is added in the Maharashtra squad, after he left Mumbai ahead of the season.

The selectors have drafted a strong squad and Ankit Bawane will lead the team. Interestingly, Gaikwad and Saurabh Nawale are expected to leave the side after just one game, since they have to join the West Zone squad for the Duleep Trophy.

Chance for Gaikwad to impress India selectors

The talented CSK skipper, Gaikwad, last played for India in 2024, in a T20I match vs Zimbabwe, and since then, he has been out of favour. He started his IPL 2025 season strongly, but was ruled out of the tournament midway due to an injury. The upcoming season provides him a great chance to once again knock on the selector's doors.

Similarly, former DC player, Shaw was not preferred in the Mumbai squad due to form, and disciplinary issues, and he would be eager to prove his worth to the selectors with a strong showing in the tournament.
