In a significant development, there are reports that the trade deal between CSK and Sanju Samson is a long shot. Notably, the Kings were the favourite to rope in the RR captain ahead of IPL 2026, but the five-time winners are not willing to trade any of their marquee talents.
Notably, RR asked for Ruturaj Gaikwad or Ravindra Jadeja to be traded for Samson, but the Men in Yellow rejected, and now the deal is far from being done. Meanwhile, this is the perfect time for other teams to step in and add Samson to their squad.
1.Delhi Capitals
For the Delhi Capitals, KL Rahul is in demand as reports mentioned that KKR are interested in signing the star India batter. Meanwhile, the Capitals can highjack CSK's move by trading Samson with KL Rahul.
Thus, DC stand a great chance to bring in Sanju Samson in place of KL Rahul.
Why Should DC Sign Sanju?Bringing in Sanju Samson would end DC's several weakness, one being the top-order. DC's opening pair was one of the weakest in IPL 2025 and they need a better and reliable player at the top, something which Samson is apt for.
Notably, DC can bring Samson to open the innings and also hand him the keeping duties that solve Delhi's two major issues - opening slot and keeper.
Further, DC can also appoint Sanju Samson as their next captain and relieve Axar Patel of his duties, which will bring out a better performance from the star all-rounder.
2.Kolkata Knight Riders
For Kolkata Knight Riders, they are also will be keen on the ongoing trade window as Venkatesh Iyer had a terrible IPL 2025 and the three-time winners would look to release the southpaw and get 23.75 crores back in the purse.
Why KKR Should Trade Sanju In?
KKR are in a dire need of a captain and brining in Sanju Samson for a long time would end their captaincy woes. The Knight Riders struggled under Ajinkya Rahane and the Men in Purple need a long-term replacement like Sanju Samson.
Further, bringing in Sanju in place of Venkatesh Iyer, would be a loss for the Knight Riders, but given the desperate times, KKR might be forced to do the deal as they cannot afford to lose Sanju to other team.
3. Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad too struggled to get clicking in IPL 2025 and their idea to whack every ball didn't succeed in most of the matches. Thus, SRH need to bring in new players and trading Ishan Kishan for Sanju Samson can be a great option for the Men in Orange.
Why Should SRH Bring In Samson?
It will be a great like-to-like signing for SRH as they will have a much more reliable keeper-batter than Ishan Kishan.
Further, Samson will bring in the stability at No.3 that the Men in Orange failed to get from Ishan Kishan during IPL 2025.
