Rohit Sharma, who led the Indian cricket team to a remarkable 2024 T20 World Cup win in the West Indies, has now kept an iconic celebration moment from Barbados as his new profile picture on X (formerly Twitter).

The moment in contention features Sharma planting the Indian tri-color on the turf of the Kensington Oval shortly after Team India bagged their first T20 World Cup trophy since winning the inaugural edition back in 2007.

Amidst the euphoria of India’s 2024 T20 World Cup glory at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29, captain Rohit Sharma was spotted planting the Indian flag on the grass banks of the venue. As it turned out, the legendary opening batter has now honored the moment by keeping the same as his new profile picture on X.

Taking to the microblogging site on June 8, i.e., roughly 10 days after India’s triumphant moment in Barbados, Rohit Sharma shared the picture and wrote: “#NewProfilePic”

While Rohit Sharma failed to make an impact with the bat against South Africa in the 2024 T20 World Cup final, he punched out match-winning knocks against Australia in the Super Eight and against defending champions England in the semifinals.

India’s remarkable win marked their first T20 World Cup victory since 2007, first World Cup win (across all formats) since 2011, and first ICC title since lifting the 2013 Champions Trophy. The outcome also made Rohit Sharma only the third Indian skipper after Kapil Dev (1983) and MS Dhoni (2007 and 2011) to win a World Cup.
