In a heartwarming moment of camaraderie, Rohit Sharma signed Yash Dayal’s RCB jersey after the latter's team beat Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025. Interestingly, in the same game, Dayal had dismissed Rohit with a sharp in-swinger.
IPL 2025 witnessed a classic thriller between MI and RCB on April 7. In a high-scoring game at Wankhede, Mumbai fell short of 12 runs in the chase to lose their fourth game of the season.
Rohit Sharma, MI’s stalwart, had another disappointing day as Yash Dayal, the left-arm pacer of RCB cleaned him up in the powerplay.
Yash Dayal Meets Rohit Sharma After MI-RCB Clash
Bowling at 137 km/h, Yash Dayal unleashed a gem of an inswinger. The ball pitched around the middle and curved in viciously, beating Rohit’s attempted drive and sneaking past the inside edge. It crashed into the leg stump, sending it cartwheeling. The ex-captain of MI walked back after scoring 17 off 9 balls.
That being said, despite the on-field rivalry, Rohit and Dayal shared a heartwarming moment of camaraderie off the field. After the game, the RCB bowler met Rohit and got him to sign his jersey. He posted pictures of that moment on Instagram to express his appreciation for the former Mumbai captain.
RCB are now seated third on the points table with 6 points in 4 games and a solid positive net run rate. On the other hand, MI slipped to 8th spot with just 2 points in 5 games.
MI Head Coach Backs Rohit Despite Rough Patch
Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene has thrown his weight behind Rohit Sharma amid growing chatter around the senior batter’s struggles against left-arm seamers. After being bowled by a sharp in-swinger from Yash Dayal in the loss to RCB at the Wankhede, Rohit’s vulnerability was once again under the spotlight, but Jayawardene isn’t panicking.
He said that it's natural for right-handed batters to struggle with that angle against left-handed seamers. But Rohit is experienced and working hard to overcome his weakness.
