India and South Africa are taking on each other in the first T20I of the four match series. The Indian team has established their strong grip in the game and are marching towards taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
India were put to bat after Aiden Markram won the toss. Though India lost an early wicket in Abhishek Sharma, the visitors did not lose way because of Sanju Samson. The Indian wicket-keeper batter took the attack to the opposition and along with Suryakumar Yadav established the base for the Indian team.
Sanju Sharma Takes India Past The 200 Mark
Even after the dismissal of the Indian skipper, the opener continued his attack and propelled the team towards a formidable total. Sanju scored a blazing 107 off 50 deliveries and ensured that India went past the 200 mark. Ultimatley, the visitors finished with 202/8 in their 20 overs.
In reply, South Africa were rocked early as Arshdeep Singh dismissed Aiden Markram in the first over. This wicket was followed by the dismissal of Tristan Stubbs who was shown the way by Avesh Khan. Ryan Rickelton was looking steady, but Varun Chakravarthy dismissed him and put the home team under further pressure.
Varun Chakravarthy's Brilliant Spell Puts India On Top
After the dismissal of Rickelton, David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen tried to do the repair job. The duo had put on 42 runs together and it was looking like they will trouble the Indians. However, Varun Chakravarthy accounted for both the batter in the 12th over and nearly finished off the game for India. The wicket of Miller and Klaasen in the same over put the Proteas in a situation from where there was no return.
