With less than a week left for the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Team India have started their preparations for the much-anticipated series. The first Test of the 5-match series will take place at the Optus Stadium in Perth, and the Indian side have already been warned about the conditions they will get.
The net practice session started a couple of days ago and now the Indian side has decided to take the game to another level by experiencing a simulation match.
Pant fails Vs Indian bowlers
As per the pitch curator, there will be seam and bounce on offer and the Indian batters will need to be wary of it. To tackle this issue, the Indian side is playing a practice simulation game at the old Perth Stadium - WACA. Once known as the fastest surface in the world, the old stadium provides an ideal conditions for the Indian batters to test their skills on a fast and bouncy pitch.
Hence, on Friday, the focus was on the batters as they begin their preparations. While Virat Kohli looked in decent rhythm and scored 15 and 30 not out in the two innings he played, Rishabh Pant had a poor outing and was clean bowled in both the innings.
In the first innings, he scored 19 and was knocked over by Nitish Kumar Reddy. However, it was Mukesh Kumar's dream delivery which cleaned him up in the second innings as he struggled to adjust to the conditions.
India eyeing third successive series win in Australia
The last two Australian tours have been fruitful for the Indian team. They won the series on both the occasions (2019, 2021), and will be aiming for a hat-trick for series wins, Down Under this time.
However, the task won't be easy since the Indian batters have been woefully out of touch and failed to deliver the goods in the New Zealand series.
India were whitewashed by the Kiwis and as a result, they now have to beat the Aussies, 4-0 to have a chance to sneaking in the WTC finale.
