Perth Stadium's curator Issac McDonald has revealed that a bowling-friendly pitch will be dished out for Australia's first Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against India. Under Pat Cummins' leadership, Australia are gearing up to take on India in a high-voltage five-match series starting on the 22nd of this month.

Meanwhile, the chief curator of Perth Stadium, where the series opener is scheduled, has opened up on the probable playing conditions at the venue. Speaking to ESPN Cricinfo, McDonald revealed that he will prepare a spicy pitch where the fast bowlers will enjoy their time in the middle.

According to him, the surface in Perth will offer significant seam movement along with good pace and carry to the fast bowlers.

"This is Australia, this is Perth. I'm setting ourselves up for really good pace, really good bounce and really good carry," McDonald was quoted as saying by ESPN Cricinfo.

10mm Live Grass On Perth's Pitch To Assist Fast Bowlers: Issac McDonald

He also stated that the track will have a 10mm-long grass covering, with the batters finding the playing conditions tricky to get going. The pitch will be similar to the one the venue had for the Australia vs Pakistan Test match earlier this year. It's worth mentioning that the visiting side couldn't face the Aussie quicks in that game, being bundled out for a paltry 89-run total in their second innings.

"It's (10 mm) a good starting point. Ten millimetres was pretty comfortable with the conditions that we had (last year) and that held the conditions together nicely for the first few days. Live grass on the pitch is speed. Both bowling units (Australia and Pakistan) were pretty rapid last year and hoping for much the same this year (for India match),” he added.
