On Thursday, September 12, India's star batter Rishabh Pant met Delhi Capitals' co-owner Parth Jindal at JSW Center, BKC. Their meeting comes at a crucial point as IPL franchises are busy finalising retention lists for the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, there were reports that Pant might leave DC to join Chennai Super Kings, who are looking at a long-term replacement for MS Dhoni, who might have played his last for the five-time IPL winners.

The details of the interaction between Pant and Jindal remain undisclosed, but the Capitals owners would have tried to persuade Pant to continue with the Capitals.

The meeting was kept ahead of Pant's scheduled departure to Chennai as he is all set to return to the Indian set-up in Test cricket after 2 years. India will face Bangladesh on September 19 at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai.

Pant's Journey With DC

It is worth noting that Pant has been associated with Delhi since 2016. He rose through the ranks and eventually became Delhi Capitals' captain in 2020 after Shreyas Iyer's injury. Under his leadership, DC have failed to reach the playoffs, but the management has shown faith in Pant and even supported him during his tough phase last year after he got ruled out for an entire season following a fatal car crash.

Delhi Capitals Sack Ricky Ponting

Ahead of IPL 2025, Delhi Capitals have been active and made a few changes to their management. Firstly, they parted ways with Ricky Ponting, who was with the side for the past five years. There are reports that the Jindal group are looking for an Indian coach.

Further, Ricky Ponting too stated that he would look for more opportunities in the IPL. There were reports that KKR are in touch with Ponting to replace Gautam Gambhir for IPL 2025.
