On Sunday, September 8, BCCI announced the squad for the upcoming home Test series against Bangladesh. The Rohit Sharma-led side will host The Tigers for two Test matches starting on September 19. One of the most noticeable additions to the 16-member list was Rishabh Pant.
It is worth noting that the southpaw has not featured for India in Tests in the last two years since his fatal car crash. Pant's last red-ball game for India also came against Bangladesh on December 22, 2022. The 26-year-old was involved in an accident on December 30 while he was returning home for New Year's.

Pant suffered multiple injuries alongside burns and bruises. He also suffered a ligament tear in his knee, for which he underwent a couple of surgeries. Rishabh's journey to the Indian set-up has been remarkable as he first returned to action through IPL 2024 and then featured in the T20 World Cup 2024.
The cricket fraternity has often hailed Pant's resilience and hard work. However, in the latest events, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff took to Twitter to praise Pant following his return to Test cricket. "Discipline and commitment. Deadly combination. Good luck @RishabhPant17!" tweeted Eric.
