India lost the Mumbai Test and underperformed throughout the series as the Kiwis inflicted a 3-0 whitewash at home. Rohit Sharma became the second India captain to be clean swept at home as the Indian side find themselves in a tricky situation heading into the Australia tour.

However, there was one shining light in the Mumbai Test defeat for India, and it was their star, Rishabh Pant. In both the innings, when India needed a saviour, Pant raised his hands and scored half-centuries in both the innings.

Till the time he was batting in the second innings, India had their hopes alive for a miraculous victory, but that didn't happen. Despite the loss, Pant achieved a phenomenal record and joined an elite lost comprising the likes of Ben Stokes and Rohit Sharma.

He became the third cricketer in the world to smash 50 sixes in the history of World Test Championship (WTC). Only Stokes (81), and Rohit (56) are ahead of him in this elusive list.

Pant struck 3 sixes in the 3rd Test and it took him to the half-centuries of sixes as the keeper-batter keeps on reaching new heights.

India slip to number 2 in WTC points table

India lost all the three matches in the series and have been clean swept for the first time in ages at home. As a result, they have now slipped below the Australian team to number 2 position in WTC points table.

If India would have won this match, their road to the WTC finale would have been slightly easy. But now, they need to win a minimum of 4 Tests out of 5 against the Aussies to reach the WTC finale.

Moreover, India cannot afford any more slip ups as South Africa are also lurking around in the points table.
