Rishabh Pant has been fantastic in Test cricket right from the time he made his debut in 2018. Even a life-threatening accident could not take a Test cricketer out of him and he is just continuing his knack of changing games and delivering under pressure in the purest format of the game.
He has continued that in the Wankhede Test against New Zealand on a difficult pitch. In the first innings he scored 60 off 59 balls when India were under the pump while in the second innings under immense pressure with India five down for 29, he kept India in the game with a counter-attacking 64 off 57 balls. His twin fifties at a strike rate of over 100 has put him in an illustrious list which includes only two other Indian batters, Virender Sehwag and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Those two openers are the only Indian players apart from Pant who have hit fifties with a strike-rate of over 100 in both the innings of a Test match. Virender Sehwag did that in 2011 against West Indies in Delhi while Yashasvi Jaiswal achieved that feat in the Kanpur Test against Bangladesh.
