On Thursday, January 2, the fans were hit with a shocking development as head coach Gautam Gambhir was seen having an extensive chat with Jasprit Bumrah in the training, while Rohit Sharma stood on the sidelines, hinting at Sharma's exclusion from the fifth Test. The visuals from the training ground sent Rohit fans into a frenzy, who were worried about their idol's Test future.

Rohit Sharma To Miss SCG Test

Notably, Rohit has been under the scanner since the beginning of BGT and was touted to bid adieu to the game after the MCG Test, as he has averaged just 6 in the ongoing series. Meanwhile, there has been the latest development that Rohit will miss the SCG Test as he has himself withdrawn from the final Test. According to a report from Devendra Pandey, the hitman has been rested.

Well does it mean that is the end of the road for the hitman in Test cricket, and has he announced his retirement?

Rohit Sharma Yet To Announce Test Retirement

Well, for those who are confused, then Rohit is yet to announce his official retirement, and even according to the reports, the captain has been rested for the final Test.

However, it is to be noted that the upcoming Test will be India's last in this WTC cycle. It is worth noting that the next Test India will play will be against England away from home in July in case they fail to qualify for the WTC 2025 final, and it is unlikely that the 37-year-old will continue by then.

Thus, it is likely that while right now it is presented as Rohit Sharma has been dropped, it certainly can be assumed that the MCG Test was hit last and the hitman might officially announce his Test retirement after the SCG Test.
