If emotion had another name for KKR fans, it would be the black and gold jersey of the franchise that was first seen during the inception of the league. In a recent reveal, KKR brought back that jersey much to the excitement of fans.

The KKR have reignited nostalgia by re-releasing their iconic 2008 jersey, sparking a massive fan frenzy as stocks of that jersey on KKR's website sold out in under 10 minutes.

KKR Treat Fans With Nostalgia

In a social media video released by KKR on their official handle, the limited-edition kit, celebrating the team’s legacy, blends retro aesthetics with modern design.

The reissued 2008 jersey pays homage to KKR’s inaugural IPL season under Sourav Ganguly, now a symbol of their three-title journey. Updated with sleek fits and contemporary materials, the design retains its signature black-gold motif, resonating deeply with fans.

The social media video had a caption that says, "Black. Gold. Fearless. The jersey that started it all makes its return—a tribute to the fire, the fight, the spirit of the Knights. No frills, no changes—just pure, unshaken legacy, carrying the weight of every battle fought since day one. Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo. Retro roots. Modern glory."

However, it is not clear yet whether the jersey is exclusively for fans or whether the players will also wear that during their away games, since there have been photoshoots with a modern version of the retro jersey featuring Rinku Singh among others.

Speaking of Rinku, the once rumoured potential contender of the KKR throne will look to continue his 'finisher' form for the upcoming season as the Knights boast a solid batting lineup including strong pinch hitters and all-rounders like Russell in the mix.

Knights Ready For The Challenge

The defending champions won 9 out of 14 matches in the 2024 season lifting the trophy after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets. Now, the IPL gears up for a blockbuster opening clash on March 22, with KKR set to host Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens.

Both teams, led by Ajinkya Rahane and debutant captain Rajat Patidar, aim to start their campaigns strong in what promises to be a high-voltage showdown.
