RCB Wins CII Sports Business 'Sports Franchise of the Year Award'

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise is struggling to win its maiden title yet remains undoubtedly one of the favourites among fans since its inception in 2008.

On Monday, the much-loved Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, won the top sporting honour at the CII Sports Business Awards 2023, clinching the 'Sports Franchise of the Year Award'.

The CII Sports Business Awards recognises the contribution made by individuals or teams to the field of sports in India. As a representative of the franchise, RCB's head of cricketing operation Rajesh V Menon received the trophy

The franchise shared the delightful news via a social media post on 'X' from its official handle, while congratulations on other winners from the cricketing field as well.

BCCI secretary and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) head Jay Shah won the Sports Business Leader of the Year - Male, while Mumbai Indians owner Mrs Nita Ambani won the Sports Business Leader of the Year - Female award, respectively. 

Joint-owners in Delhi Capitals (DC) IPL franchise JSW Sports run by Parth Jindal, also won recognition as the Best Organisation Investing in Sports award. 

The CII Sports Business Awards 2023 jury consisted of Abhinav Bindra, Michelle Wade, Abhishek Binaykia, Nic Coward, and Aahna Mehrotra. 

RCB is owned by United Spirits, which is chaired by Prathmesh Mishra. The current captain of the franchise is Faf du Plessis, and the coach is former Zimbabwe captain Andy Flower, while Mo Bobat is Director of Cricket. 

RCB also owns an Women's Premier League franchise of the same name.
