RCB’s IPL 2025 victory parade turned deadly in Bengaluru. Just a day after the Rajat Patidar-led franchise defeated Punjab Kings by six runs in the final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, scores of RCB fans flocked to the streets of Bengaluru to celebrate their team’s historic title win. However, as reported by the Indian Express, as many as 11 people have died due to a stampede-like situation created outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, leaving numerous others injured.
Kuldeep Yadav Gets Engaged To Childhood Friend
Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav got engaged to his childhood friend Vanshika. The two had a traditional ceremony in Lucknow shortly after the conclusion of the Delhi Capitals campaign this IPL 2025 season. The engagement was a private affair attended by close friends, family members and by several well-known cricketers from Uttar Pradesh. Indian batter Rinku Singh, who himself will be getting engaged with MP Priya Saroj, was among those who attended the ceremony.
Gary Stead To Step Down As New Zealand Coach
New Zealand men’s head coach Gary Stead is set to depart from his role, thus ending his seven-year tenure. Stead, who stepped down as New Zealand’s white-ball coach last month, will now be leaving his Test duties since New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has decided to employ just one coach for all international formats.
Under the guidance of Gary Stead, the New Zealand cricket team won the inaugural 2021 WTC final by defeating India in England. Moreover, New Zealand also registered a historic 3-0 Test series victory in India last year.
Sri Lanka Players Take SLC To Court
Several Sri Lankan cricketers have taken legal action over personal income tax dispute involving Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and the Inland Revenue Department (IRD). Some of the petitioners include men’s cricketers like Dhananjaya de Silva and Charith Asalanka as well as women’s captain and legendary all-rounder Chamari Athapaththu.
In the petition, the players are arguing that they are not employees of SLC but rather individual service providers, and their income from playing cricket for Sri Lanka should not attract employee-level taxation.
Fraser-McGurk, Stoinis Dropped From AUS T20I Squad For WI Tour
Opening batter Jake Fraser-McGurk and all-rounder Marcus Stoinis were among those to be dropped from Australia’s T20I squad by Cricket Australia for the upcoming tour of West Indies. Mitchell Marsh is set to lead a 16-player group, and he will be accompanied by fellow senior pros like Josh Hazlewood, Adam Zampa and Glenn Maxwell.
The Australian cricket team will face West Indies in a five-match T20I series between July 20 and July 28 next month. The matches will be hosted by Jamaica and St Kitts.
