Lack Of Planning In Bengaluru Results In Unexpected Stampede
Huge crowd gathered on Bengaluru streets to watch their favourite players with the trophy, but the lack of planning in crowd management proved fatal resulting in the tragic incident. According to a report from Indian Express, 15 people are injured along with 10 deaths.
The BCCI secretary has also reacted to the incident and stated that the preparation should have been better. It is also understood that the Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah will host the press conference at 7:30 PM IST to share more details on the incident.
"It's most unfortunate, organisers should have planned RCB's IPL-winning celebrations better. This is negative side of popularity. People are crazy for their cricketers: BCCI on RCB celebrations leading to death of fans," BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia on stampede.
The winning RCB team was initially supposed to hold a open bus parade in Bengaluru, but it got cancelled. The RCB players were then felicitated at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium but there was not enough space to accommodate all the fans, and it created a dangerous situation outside the ground.
Some of the fans tried to cross the stadium wall to witness the felicitation event and it created a dangerous situation where fans ended up hurting each other. More details of the stampede is expected to arrive as the authorities take note of the situation and accountability of the tragic incident.
