Cricket Australia CEO has expressed his desire of welcoming Indian players into the BBL. In other news, KL Rahul has arrived in England for the upcoming Test series.
Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Tuesday, June 3.
RCB Ends Curse, Pip PBKS To Lift IPL 2025
RCB edged out Punjab Kings by six runs to lift the IPL 2025 title in front of a near-capacity Narendra Modi Stadium crowd in Ahmedabad. Batting first, RCB hauled 190-9 from 20 overs with Virat Kohli punching out a swift 35-ball 43. Jitesh Sharma, Liam Livingstone and captain Rajat Patidar also unleashed quick runs during the middle and slog overs. For Punjab Kings, pacemen Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson picked up three wickets each, albeit expensively.
Chasing 191, Punjab Kings lost crucial wickets in the middle overs to lose momentum. Krunal Pandya conceded just 17 from his four overs, dismissing Josh Inglis and Prabhsimran Singh in the process. In spite of Shashank Singh’s explosive 30-ball 61*, Punjab Kings fell short of RCB.
Sudharsan, Prasidh Bag Orange, Purple Caps
Gujarat Titans fast bowler Sai Sudharsan bagged the coveted Orange Cap of the IPL 2025 season. His teammate Prasidh Krishnam, on the other hand, clinched the Purple Cap at the end of the tournament. Sudharsan hauled 759 runs this season from 15 innings at a prolific average of 54.21. Krishna collected 25 wickets with the ball from 15 matches at an impressive average of 19.52, barely pipping Noor Ahmad in the wicket-taking race.
BCB President Eyes Minimal Change For SL Tests
Newly appointed Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam confirmed that there is a very little possibility of the Bangladesh team introducing new faces for the impending Test series against Sri Lanka. The Bangladesh cricket team is set to tour Sri Lanka later this month to play a two-match Test series. The two matches will be hosted by Galle and Colombo respectively.
CA CEO Wants Virat Kohli And Other Indian Players In BBL
Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg has expressed his wish of welcoming Indian players into the Australia-based Big Bash League (BBL). Greenberg even confirmed that Cricket Australia is already in repeated discussions with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He claimed that the presence of Indian cricketing superstars like Virat Kohli in the BBL would boost interest in crowds and ratings of the BBL. However, Greenberg added that it is unlikely the BCCI will be allowing Indian players to participate in overseas leagues anytime soon.
KL Rahul Arrives In England For India A, India Series
KL Rahul has touched base in England to link up with India A squad ahead of their second unofficial Test against England Lions. The match will be hosted by the County Ground in Northampton between June 6 and June 9. Rahul recently represented the Delhi Capitals franchise in the IPL 2025 season.
The impending India A fixture will serve as a prelude for several Indian players ahead of the high-octane five-match Test series against England. Rahul was selected in India’s 18-member squad by the BCCI for the tour, with new-captain Shubman Gill slated to take charge of the team.
