Finally, after a wait of 18 years, Virat Kohli and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lifted their maiden IPL trophy on June 3, and with this, IPL 2025 has come to an end.

It is important to note that on May 12, 2025, Virat Kohli formally announced his retirement from Test cricket. With this, and having already stepped away from the shortest format of the game, Kohli is now down to playing just one international format which is ODIs.

The shift in formats comes at a time when ODIs have taken a backseat in the international calendar, largely due to the growing prominence of T20 cricket. With the T20 World Cup scheduled for 2026, most sides are increasingly focused on the shortest format.

Having said all this, in this article, let's take a look at when will Virat Kohli next play for India?

Virat Kohli Likely To Play In August After Test Retirement

It is important to mention that Kohli is expected to make his return to international cricket in August when India will travel to Bangladesh for the white-ball series. The series includes three ODIs and three T20Is.

The ODI series will kick off on August 17 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. The second match is scheduled at the same venue on August 20. The final ODI will be played at the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium on August 23.

Following the Bangladesh tour, Virat Kohli will be back in action in October, as India tours Australia for a crucial limited-overs series. The tour includes three ODIs and five T20Is.
