Team India cruised their way to the Super Eight round of the 2024 T20 World Cup. Playing all their Group games in the USA, the ‘Men in Blue’ trounced Ireland, Pakistan and USA in successive matches before their planned fixture against Canada was washed out due to rains.

While fast bowlers played a crucial role on the hotbeds of USA, spinners are likely to make a bigger impact in the Super Eight set of matches in West Indies, at least according to senior Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja

While speaking with the official broadcasters of the tournament, the cricketer recently revealed India’s strategy for their upcoming challenges, which will likely involve excessive use of spin from the ‘Men in Blue’ bowlers.

While speaking with the Star Sports network, the all-rounder revealed that the Indian team might employ excessive force of spin in the Super Eights owing to the “slow and dry” playing surfaces in the West Indies.

The cricketer added that since the match timings are mostly in the mornings, the spinners will likely receive help in the middle overs and the team’s think-tank might even use spin options for the death overs.

“In West Indies, wicket remains slow and dry. Match timing is in morning so spinners will have help in the middle overs. You could even see spinners being used at the death," he said.

Ravindra Jadeja is yet to claim a wicket in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. However, his economical short spell against Pakistan did assist other bowlers to secure a clutch last-over win for Team India.

As of now, the Indian team is gearing up to face Afghanistan in their opening match of the Super Eight round of the tournament.

The match will be staged on June 20 in Bridgetown and the ‘Men in Blue’ will subsequently face Bangladesh and Australia at North Sound on June 22 and Gros Islet on June 24 respectively.
