The Ranji Trophy 2023-24 final, slated to run from March 10 to 14, is likely to be hosted at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has put its weight behind hosting the final at the South Mumbai venue, well well-known for hosting the 2011 World Cup.

Incidentally, on Monday, the most successful team in the Ranji Trophy, Mumbai, entered the final after a thumping win over Tamil Nadu at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC, Mumbai. It is apparent that Mumbai will have the upper hand in the final which is all but confirmed to take place at the Wankhede Stadium.

Despite the venue, still, to be confirmed, the MCA will host the final as the existing rules favour the superior team on the points table to host the clash.  The MCA has options from Wankhede and the BKC to host the final.

"Most likely, the Wankhede will be the venue," affirmed an MCA official to Cricbuzz. "The final decision will be made within the next 24 hours."

The winners of the first semi-final between Vidarbha and Madhya Pradesh will book their final date with Mumbai for the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 final. At stumps on Day 3, Vidarbha led by 261 runs.

There are also considerations made for the venue, keeping in mind,  that the Wankhede will be home to the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 with their inaugural match scheduled to take place on April 1.

However, Mumbai will be the favourites to win the prestigious trophy and break their drought since 2015-16. The MCA hosted the Ranji Trophy final 41 times prior to this. This edition marks the 89th season of the Ranji Trophy.
