The Narendra Modi Stadium bore witness to a cricketing marvel as New Zealand's newest gem, Rachin Ravindra etched his name in World Cup history.

Ravindra shadows Kohli's footsteps with World Cup century milestone

The young Kiwi sensation stormed into records, securing his spot as the third youngest batsman ever to craft a century in a World Cup debut.

At the tender age of 23 years and 321 days, Ravindra displayed a masterclass with the bat that was nothing short of mesmerizing. With a swashbuckling 123 off just 96 deliveries against a formidable English attack, his innings was filled with eleven elegant fours and five sixes, leaving the English camp searching for answers.

This prodigious achievement finds Ravindra in illustrious company, trailing only behind India's Virat Kohli, who shone at 22 years and 106 days with a scintillating ton against Bangladesh in World Cup 2011, and Zimbabwean legend Andy Flower, who left his mark at 23 years and 301 days with a hundred versus Sri Lanka in World Cup 1992.

Occupying the 4th and 5th spots are Nathan Astle, who achieved this distinction at 24 years and 152 days against England in World Cup 1996, followed by David Miller, who marked his century at 25 years and 250 days versus Zimbabwe in World Cup 2015.

Meanwhile, Ravindra's stellar innings, in concert with Devon Conway's unbeaten 152, propelled New Zealand to a statement-making nine-wicket triumph over the reigning champions, England.

This win has not only signalled the Kiwis' intent in this year's World Cup but has also cemented Ravindra's reputation as a force to be reckoned with.
