The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has recalled Wahab Riaz for an administrative position, this time as the Director of Pakistan’s flagship domestic cricket tournaments. The 39-year-old, who previously worked for PCB as the team manager during the T20 World Cup 2024, will be back in action to improve their squad from behind the spotlight.
Wahab's responsibility would be to manage Pakistan's Champions tournaments, the Champions One-Day Cup, the Champions T20 Cup, and the Champions First-Class Cup, all of which PCB introduced earlier this year.
"My time serving as a member of selection committee for PCB comes to an end, I just want my people to know that I have served the game I love with faith and sincerity and have given 100 percent for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.
"It has been an honour to serve as part of the selection panel. To make collaborative decisions as part of the seven-man panel to select the national team was a privilege - everyone's vote carried equal weight, we made selection decisions as a team & shared the responsibility of that process equally," Wahab said.
It is important to note that Wahab previously worked for the PCB in two different important roles. Apart from being the team manager, the left-arm previously served as a member of the national men’s selection committee before getting sacked, along with Mansoor Rana, following Pakistan’s dismal performance in T20 World Cup 2024.
Moreover, Wahab did not say any words against the PCB despite sacking from crucial role. Now only time will tell how his third round as PCB's administrator will pan out.
