PCB Chief Naqvi Confirms Venues For England Test Series Against Pakistan
Pakistan will host the England in test match (X)
Pakistan is set to face England in a three-match Test series next month, with the series opener scheduled at the Multan Cricket Stadium on October 7. The subsequent matches are planned for Karachi (October 15-19) and Rawalpindi (October 24-28).
However, due to ongoing renovation work at the National Stadium in Karachi and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, there were reports that the series might be moved to Sri Lanka or the UAE.
Multan And Rawalpindi To Host Pakistan Vs England Test Series
According to the reports as quoted from Geo News, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi recently dismissed these rumours and confirmed that the Test series will take place in Pakistan, with Multan and Rawalpindi as the confirmed venues.
He also added that no matches would be shifted outside the country, and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is satisfied with the arrangements. Thus, despite the ongoing renovations, the series will proceed as planned within Pakistan.
“The home Test series against England will be held in Multan and Rawalpindi. We are in touch with the England board, and they are satisfied" Naqvi was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
It is important to mention that, the recently concluded test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh also witnessed a shift in venue.
The second Test of the two-match series was scheduled to take place in the National Stadium in Karachi. However, due to renovation work, the match was moved out of the iconic venue and shifted to Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Talking about the series, Pakistan suffered a shocking defeat in both Tests against Bangladesh. They can’t afford to lose any match of the series against England as they have dropped to 8th position in the WTC points table.
ICC Champions Trophy To Take Place In Pakistan
There have been several reports that India is unlikely to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will request hybrid matches in Dubai or Sri Lanka.
“Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan; we are in touch with the BCCI Secretary,” he said. “We are also in contact with the boards of the teams participating in the Champions Trophy,” he added.
Mohsin Naqvi in addition to this also added that the 2025 edition of the ICC Champions Trophy will take place in Pakistan.
