Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, was recently elected unopposed as the ICC Chairman and will assume the role on December 1, 2024. He became the youngest to hold this prestigious position.

Following his appointment, questions were raised about India's participation in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan.

Concerns specifically revolved around whether India would travel to Pakistan for the tournament. However, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi recently addressed the matter.

Naqvi Clear Things Out About Jay Shah's Recent Appointment

According to the reports of Hindustan Times as quoted by Geo News, Naqvi has recently emphasised that there are no concerns regarding Shah's appointment as ICC chairman.

This statement clearly states that, despite political tensions, the PCB remains confident about hosting the Champions Trophy without any issues arising from Jay Shah’s new role.

"We are in touch with Jay Shah; there are no concerns about his becoming ICC Chairman. The ACC meeting is on September 8 and 9." Mohsin Naqvi said.

It is important to mention that Pakistan's preparation to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is in full swing with major renovations underway at key venues like Karachi National Stadium, Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium, and Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

However, ahead of this marquee event, the Men in Green has faced several challenges on the field, the recent one being their humiliating test series defeat against Bangladesh. Under new Test head coach Jason Gillespie, Pakistan suffered a series whitewash at home against the Bangla Tigers. This defeat resulted in the team dropping to eighth in the ICC Test rankings.

Chances Of Pakistan's Qualification For WTC 2025 Final

Pakistan's hopes of reaching the WTC 2025 final have been severely dented after their crushing defeat against Bangladesh in the Rawalpindi Test.

This loss further compounded their struggles, which have left Shan Masood's side languishing in eighth place on the WTC points table.

With only two victories in seven matches, Pakistan's points percentage stands at a mere 19.05, just above the West Indies, who are at the bottom. In stark contrast, India continues to dominate the WTC standings and is at the top position with consistent performances.
