Having a celebrated surname often brings its own set of expectations and pressures, but Samit Dravid, son of former Indian captain and former Indian head coach Rahul Dravid, has risen to the occasion.

After years of dedication and hard work, Samit has been awarded a coveted spot in India’s U-19 squad for the upcoming multi-format series against Australia. Scheduled to commence in September and October, this series will mark a significant milestone in Samit's young career.

Samit Dravid’s selection by the Junior Selection Committee on August 31 is a testament to his relentless efforts and skill. The 18-year-old all-rounder, who is both a right-handed batter and a right-arm medium pacer, has been a standout performer in domestic cricket.

Extremely happy and thankful: Samit Dravid

His recent performance in the Cooch Behar Trophy was particularly impressive, where he accumulated 362 runs and claimed 16 wickets, playing a pivotal role in Karnataka’s triumph over Mumbai in the final.

In a recent conversation with Star Sports Kannada, Samit expressed his gratitude and joy over the selection.

“I am extremely happy and thankful for all the warm wishes. This moment is the result of my hard work and dedication,” he shared.

Currently, Samit is competing in the Maharaja T20 Trophy for Mysuru Warriors. Though his performance in the T20 format has been modest, with 82 runs from seven innings and no bowling appearances yet, his selection for the U-19 series highlights his potential and past achievements.
