Big Bash League's Sydney Thunder have announced massive signings for the remainder of the season as Pakistan's Mohammad Hasnain and England's George Garton have been snapped up as replacement players for the outgoing Lockie Ferguson and Sherfane Rutherford. Both the departing players will link up with their respective ILT20 franchises.

This news is crucial, especially for Hasnain, who was banned from the league for an illegal bowling action after featuring for the same side back in the 2021-22 season. He has been allowed back in the league following remodelling of his action as his elbow bent more than the acceptable limit.

Left-arm pacer Garton, meanwhile, has previously plied his trade for Adelaide Strikers and is expected to perform his role with the bat as well.

Sydney Thunder Suffering From Player Withdrawal & Injuries

Thunder has been dealt with a stern hand as two of their crucial players, Daniel Sams and Cameron Bancroft were severely injured in a deadly collapse few days ago, following which both of them were taken to the hospital.

Sams was a bit lucky, only to suffer a concussion and get ruled out for 12 days, whereas Bancroft was not so much as he was diagnosed with a broken nose and shoulder, hence ending his season prematurely.

In pursuit of minimising the damage, Thunder brought in their assistant coach, Daniel Christian, as one of the replacement players for Cameron Bancroft, who won't be returning back. Whereas players leaving for their ILT20 commitments, Ferguson and Rutherford are being timely replaced.

Thunder Rocking The BBL Charts

Despite all the chaos, David Warner-led Thunder have not looked back, with just two losses from seven games and an abandoned game under their belt as well. With nine points from seven matches, they are placed second on the table and still have three matches remaining.
