Glenn Maxwell notched up a 26-ball half century against Sydney Sixers to turbo-charge the Melbourne Stars innings in match number 28 of the BBL 2024-25 season. The charismatic Australian all-rounder ended up whacking 58 unbeaten runs in the game from just 31 deliveries, and clattered five boundaries and three huge sixes at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Through the course of his whirlwind knock, Maxwell also attained a significant batting milestone in the history of BBL, previously scaled only by a handful of Australian cricketers.

Glenn Maxwell notched up the 3,000th run of his BBL career through the course of his unbeaten 58 against Sydney Sixers at the MCG on January 9. The legendary Australian cricketer became only the sixth batter in BBL history to scale the landmark figure after the likes of Chris Lynn, Aaron Finch, D’Arcy Short, Moises Henriques and Jon Wells.

Moreover, Maxwell also soared past the overall BBL tally of Wells and Henriques and currently find himself as the fourth highest run-scorer in the history of the Australian T20 competition.

Glenn Maxwell’s 32-ball 58* catapulted the Melbourne Stars total to a competitive 156-5 from 20 overs after visiting skipper Moises Henriques won the toss and opted to field first.

Notably, Maxwell’s innings also marked his 19th half-century in BBL cricket, and the 55th of his overall T20 career.
